Code
This is the Spectate uptime checker. A Spectate customer added your website, API or server to a monitor. The checker sends a request to that address at a fixed interval, as often as every 30 seconds, from one or more of four regions. It measures if the address answers, how fast it answers, and if its certificate is valid.
What the checker does
- It sends the request that the monitor specifies to one URL. It follows up to 10 redirects of that URL by default.
- When a check fails, the checker can open the URL in a browser to take a screenshot for the customer. The browser loads the page with its images, styles and scripts.
- It does not follow other links, crawl pages or submit forms.
- It sends its requests from the Spectate IP addresses.
Stop the checks
If you own the website and you do not want these checks:
- Block the IP addresses of the checkers or the user agent above. Spectate's customer then sees the monitor as down.
- If you think that someone uses Spectate to abuse your service, send an email to abuse@spectate.net. Include the URL that the checker requests and the times of the requests.
Allow the checks
If you use Spectate and your firewall or bot protection blocks the checker, allow the IP addresses on the IP addresses page. For services such as Cloudflare, also allow the user agent above.
